Determining the minimum length of a cane:
  1. Stand erect.
  2. Be in comfortable shoes you usually wear.
  3. Allow arms to fall at the sides naturally. Do not lean forward. Shoulders should not be raised.
  4. Take the measurement from the wrist bone down to the floor.
  5. Remember: We can shorten wooden canes/staffs to the desired height, but we CANNOT lengthen them!

 

Determining the minimum length of a hiking Staff:

  1. Stand erect.
  2. Be in comfortable shoes you usually wear.
  3. Allow arms to fall at the sides naturally. Do not lean forward. Shoulders should not be raised.
  4. Take the measurement from the wrist bone down to the floor.
  5. Then add an additional 5" to 12" to allow for the top of the staff.
  6. Remember: We can shorten wooden canes/staffs to the desired height, but we CANNOT lengthen them!
